Photographic Communication Design

Photographic Communication Design

Two weeks of working together in Istanbul. We all came with different expectations in this city to start "Reading The City". We tried to get an orientation with the city and also with ourselves in this group. We did several interviews with Photographers and other artists. We also found common people for a short meeting on the street. We tried to find out what is happening in this city, with our focus on photography. But we also tried to document the people who are living in Istanbul.

Jacob, a katholic Priest: "Time used to have no meaning in this city."

Man on a boat:
"I don't have time to go to art exhibitions or films, because I have to earn money."

Man on the street: "I don't know anything about art. I'm just trying to earn some money."

After two weeks we are full of impressions and we are not the same people who we were 10 days ago. Meeting new people is not always easy, especially when you have to work together. At first it was hard to become a team and after that to make something that we could show, as we are visual artists. But we are still not where we wanted to be, but that doesn't matter because this project isn't over. We decided that this project doesn't end at the moment we step on that plain. We will keep working together. Interviews that didn't work out will ben done, and there are still many pictures to be made.
